What is Coaching?

Coaching is a professional relationship between Client and Coach focused on helping a person change in the way they wish and going in the direction they want to go, supporting them at every level in becoming who they want to be, and building awareness to empower choice and lead to change.

We seek support from lots of different people, and for a variety of different reasons. We may need advice on what to do next, a listening ear, an opportunity to cry, or time for thoughtful contemplation. So, how do we know when to lean on a friend, when to seek a Coach, and when to call a Therapist? Because so many of the helping relationships, and subsequent professions overlap, it’s important to consider context.

One of the most confused, and widely talked about distinctions, is the difference between Coaching and Counseling. Some of the major distinctions include:
